FAQs
- Are your products Australian Made?
-
Yes, all of our timber products are made in Canberra Australia. Some of our accessories such as test tubes for vases, crystals for suncatchers etc. are imported, but sourced through local Australian suppliers where we can.
- How do you cut out the timber?
-
Shapes are individually cut out with a scroll saw or Bandsaw. Various sanding machines are used for finishing the products with a final hand sand to finish.
- Where do you source your timber?
-
Timber comes from various local resources including new timbers, but we also recycle timber from old furniture etc.
- Do you use Australian Timber
-
Yes, but also imported ones that are available from time to time. Some of our timbers are sourced from trees that have been felled here in Canberra, but may not be native to Australia. For example, an old Dutch Elm tree that came down in a storm was saved from being chipped. The timber was milled and dried and then utilised for a batch of vases and suncatchers.
- Do you provide custom orders?
-
Not generally as most
of our timbers are limited by availability. We specialise in small batch production and when that particular timber runs out, we don’t know if, or when it will be available again. No harm in asking the question though, so send an email with your request, we may just have something that will suit. - What finish do you use on your products?
-
OSMO hard wax oil, which is non-toxic and food safe. It gives a nice natural finish without being oily. It is also reasonably water resistant, so the finished product can be wiped clean occasionally with a
damp cloth.
